In Aetherynd's infancy, the celestial deity Zarathustra weaved the Great Veil to contain the eldritch chaos. Yet, in the Epoch of Origins, a fissure formed, birthing the first Veilshard. This fragment fell upon Zarathustra's favored realm, spawning the Dynasti of Zarathustar in the land of Azarul. Their divine blood granted them the power to heal, yet they sought control over the remaining Veilshards. In the Eastern Wastes, the Order of Nebuchadnezzar arose from the ashes of ancient Nibiru. They protected the fragment named after their founder and believed that only by uniting all Veilshards could they restore balance to Aetherynd. The Cult of Enki emerged in the swamps of Xisuthrus, preaching that the Veilshard within was a divine gift from Enki, the god of wisdom. They sought to use its power to control the other factions and bend Aetherynd to their will. The Brotherhood of Gibil appeared in the deserts of Eridu, where the last Veilshard lay buried. Guided by the prophecy of Tiamat, they aimed to retrieve the shard, merge it with the Brotherhood's own divine energy, and mend Aetherynd as intended.
